IFS Basics 1

Seven-Week Small Group. Meets via Zoom
Tuesdays 11am – 1pm Central Time.
 January 24 – March 7, 2023
$449
Includes 14 hours of in-person instruction, drop-in office hours for Q&A, plus a downloadable workbook & resource guide for the course.

This course is the first in a three-part series designed for professional therapists, coaches, and others in the Healing Arts, who want to learn IFS. In this first course, we explore the building blocks of the model and focus mostly on our protective systems. This course encourages confidence in working with one’s own internal system, and prepares beginning clinicians to use the model for themselves. No prior IFS training or experience is necessary. Before class begins, you will receive a detailed resource guide to help you prepare.

Topics By Week:

  1. Building safety in the group, and comfort with Parts language and Parts Work
  2. Understanding The Internal System as a whole – Self-energy, multiplicity, and parts development over time
  3. Working with Protectors (both healthy and extreme)
  4. Exploring the nature of The Self in IFS
  5. Protector protocols and “The Six F’s”
  6. Stress-free Practice interlude — experience protector protocols as client and facilitator.
  7. Taking IFS into your life and work setting

Each session includes short lectures, pair practice, and either a demonstration of the model in real-time or a chance to do your own personal work. Together we will create a small, safe, confidential environment in which to learn the building blocks of the IFS model, to feel and contribute to the profound Self-Energy that arises in such a group, and to develop skills for living well.

IFS Basics 2

Seven-Week Small Group. Meets via Zoom
Tuesdays 11am – 1pm Central Time.
 March 21 – May 2, 2023
$449
Includes 14 hours of in-person instruction, drop-in office hours for Q&A, plus a downloadable workbook & resource guide for the course.

This course is the second in the three part-series. In this course, we focus on the wounded or exiled system. I called is the “second tier” of the IFS model since skills and capacities needed to work with exiles. Take special care to teach. We will devote considerable energy to working with these tender often young parts. This class is for students who have already taken basics one: protectors.

Topics By Week:

  1. Building safety in the group and getting clarity about the differences between Protector and Exile work
  2. Beginning to work with second-tier IFS: identifying and caring for Exiles.
  3. Continuing second-tier work: witnessing, rescuing, and unburdening Exiles.
  4. Working with parts who get stuck, fearful, or confused during Exile work. Watch a demo or two.
  5. Stress-free Practice interlude — experience Exile protocols as client and facilitator.
  6. More practice and demos. Plus, nuances in unburdening and reintegrating healed parts.
  7. Self assessment and suggestions for next steps.

Each session includes short lectures, pair practice, and either a demonstration of the model in real-time or a chance to do your own personal work. Together we will create a small, safe, confidential environment in which to deepen your skills and confidence using the IFS model and feel and contribute to the profound Self-Energy that arises in the group.

IFS Basics 3

Seven-Week Small Group. Meets via Zoom
Tuesdays or Fridays Spring, 2023 TBA
$449
Includes 14 hours of in-person instruction, drop-in office hours for Q&A, plus a downloadable workbook & resource guide for the course.

This course is the final course in the three part intro series. In this course, we begin to take the model to our clients. We vote on the question of how to bring the model forward. Different clients require different kinds of psycho-education or introduction. We also devote time to practicing the model with each other and outside the group in order to gain experience and confidence. This class is for students who have already taken Basics One & Two, or have permission of instructor.
