Meet Emma Donovan, M.A, LPC

Emma Donovan, LPC, began her counseling career at a university mental health center and is passionate about helping young people in their 20s and 30s to heal past wounds and grow into their best selves with an alternative approach to therapy.

While Emma enjoys working with all ages, she specializes in helping 20 and 30-somethings find their internal wisdom so they can transform their perceived weaknesses and wounds into strengths and gifts. This leads to meaningful, peaceful, and awakened lives, even in the face of life’s challenges.

Prior to practicing at The Center, she spent 18 months as a therapist at a mindfulness center in Northern Thailand, where she fell in love with the IFS model and has now completed all 3 levels of IFS training. She enjoys working holistically, integrating body, mind, and spirit, and incorporating wisdom from mindfulness and somatic psychotherapy to guide clients on their path.

In addition to being a counselor, Emma is also an advanced yoga instructor, TRE provider, and IFS-inspired coach. When she’s not counseling or coaching, you’re likely to find her fantasizing about her next international adventure, journaling on a park bench, laughing at inside jokes with good friends, being active in nature, eating a little too much ice cream, or reading Mary Oliver poems.

She believes in creating space for every part of herself and wants to help you do that, too, whatever that means for you.

She provides a compassionate, supportive space for clients to heal past trauma, gain self-awareness, strengthen their resilience, and grow into their best selves. Emma invites curiosity and playfulness into sessions to balance the hardship of life because she believes therapy can be rewarding and even fun! If you’d like to learn more or schedule an appointment, please visit her website or email her at alternativetherapystl@gmail.com.
